SPEECH BY THE SECRETARY/ HEAD HUMAN RESOURCE AND ADMINISTRATION AT THE GUILD INAUGURATION CEREMONY

It is with gratitude that I stand here today to inaugurate the duly elected Guild Leadership.

Let me begin by thanking the Electoral Commission for conducting free and fair elections.  I hope you agree with me that the elections were free and fair.  Thank you for a good job well done.  To the students at all campuses, I thank those who participated in the elections by casting their votes.  Thank you for exercising your constitutional right.  As you may be aware, we have a students’ Guild Constitution that provides for election of Guild Leadership every academic year

To the Guild Leadership, I congratulate you for having been elected to the various constitutional positions.  To those who lost the elections I say: the campaign is over, and the time for unity has come.  You should all work together for the greater good of the LDC.

You have been entrusted with a sacred responsibility.  You are not just leaders, you are stewards of the students’ trust and voices.

You should be fully committed to serving their interests with dedication, transparency and humility.  Your administration should be defined by action and inclusion.

  • Prioritize students’ welfare by ensuring that concerns regarding learning environment, security and health care are forwarded to administration and ensure that they are addressed promptly.

On behalf of LDC management, we are committed to work hand in hand with the Guild Leadership and address all the concerns appropriately.

  • We have a students liaison office in place that is in charge of Guild activities and students’ welfare. You should work with the students Liaison officer in that regard. As management, we implement an open door policy, feel free to come to us in case of need.

I once again congratulate the Guild leadership and wish you well during your term of office.

Thank you for listening to me.

For God and My Country
